Creating Democracy and Challenging Corporate Rule
Peak Dems along with the Green Party and Move to Amend will host a community forum on “Creating Democracy and Challenging Corporate Rule” with guest speaker David Cobb of the Move to Amend campaign.
Part history lesson and part heart-felt call to action, the event will be at the
Cheyenne Mountain Library at 1785 S. 8th St., Tuesday, May 15th from 6:30-8:30pm.
Did you follow the insanity at our Capital this week? The gimics the Republicans pulled to stop an up-or-down vote illustrate how vitally important it is that we get Pete Lee re-elected to HD18 and elect Tony Exum to HD17. We are running continuous phone banks from the office to reactivate voters and let them know about their candidate. Please join us.
Upcoming June 2012 Events
The NAACP has two Juneteenth events this year.
We will celebrate June 10th at 3 PM at the Branch Office with an Ice Cream Social and Talent Show provided by our Youth Council.
On June 17th, the Juneteenth Service of Celebration will be at 10 AM at First Congregational Church with Pastor Jesse Brown Jr. and Special Gospel Music by Minister of Music Samuel Bryant.
All are welcome.

John Morris for County Commissioner Dist 3
My fellow Democrats,
I am happy to announce that I am the 2012 Democratic candidate for the El Paso County Commission, District #3. For those who may not know me, I am the past chair of the El Paso County Democratic Party (2005-2009), a retired District #11 high school teacher, and a forty-five year resident of Colorado Springs.
I have chosen to run because of my deep frustration with the Republican machine that has controlled this county for the last generation for its own benefit and the benefit of its friends.
I am also frustrated that the progressive and moderate voters on the Westside in Commissioner District #3 may have representation in the state legislature with Pete Lee and John Morse, but no Democrat has been elected to the County Commission for the last forty years, and no Democrat has served as an elected member of our county government for a generation. The diversity of political opinion in the community should be reflected by officials in the halls of government. It is time for the progressive voice to be heard in El Paso County.
Welcome Our New Office Assistant!
We would like to welcome Tracey Rivers to the Peak Dems office as our new office assistant. Stop by and say hi when you have a chance.
Are you looking to volunteer, get more involved with the election fun? We are running phone banks out of the office everyday contacting inactive voters. Come join us.
If you were able to join us for the 1st 2nd Thursday in April, you spent the evening with 40 other local Democrats and, I hope, made some new friends. If you missed it, make sure to join us (in the rear bar) on Thursday, May 10th at 5pm at Southside Johnny’s (528 S. Tejon)
